Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Buccaneers Lose Road Game to PUC

Angwin, Calif. – Earlier in the season, the men's basketball team at Park University Gilbert snapped their five game losing streak with a seven point victory over the Pioneers of Pacific Union. However, it was a different ending for the Buccaneers as they experienced their 11 conference loss against PUC 67-74.

It was a scoreless game until Pacific Union's Sterlen Thomas hit his first three pointer of the night during the 17th minute. The Pioneers went on to down a 10-2 run following two made three throws from LC Ballard.

The first half was Pacific Union's game as the led by at least five points, with help from Thomas' 11 points and Rick Hamiltons' seven boards. Jaylen Solich returned to the roster after an injury benched him for several weeks. In his first game back, Solich bagged eight points shooting 60% from the floor before heading into halftime.

To start the second half, the Pioneers put up seven points, extending the lead to 16 points over Park. A steal and layup from Zrebric Humphrey Jr. helped bring the score back to 32-42 before the Buccaneers went on a rampage, putting up 14 points and holding their opponents to just four.

Tre Adams carried the Bucs with 14 points and five rebounds on the evening. He maintains an average of 8.3 points per game. Humphrey Jr. also put up five boards, along with a team high of two blocks. Solich finished his night in Angwin with 13 points and two steals.

All seven of Vincent Cooke's points came from the second half, putting up back to back jumper and three-pointer to close the lead 35-42.

The three-point shooting margin was small, with Park finishing 27.3% and Pacific Union with 31.8%. Regardless of the end result, the Buccaneers were more successful than their opponents as they went 24-52 from the floor.

The Buccaneers now move to (5-17,3-11) before heading into their next round of competition against California State University-Maritime on Feb. 5. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. PST.
