Volleyball Rolls Versus Marymount 3-0

The Park University Gilbert volleyball team did not break much of a sweat this evening as they rolled to a quick 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-19 win over Marymount California at the Arizona Region Volleyball Facility.

The Buccaneers (14-6, 13-3) jumped on top early and never looked back.  In the first two sets the Bucs outhit the Mariners 25-14 in kills. The Bucs also recorded 10 aces for the match and 15 total blocks. As a team, Park Gilbert hit .348 for the match. In set two, the Bucs won the first 13 points of the set before the Mariners (4-19, 3-12) could get on the board. 

Individually, Amanda Jonovich had 13 kills with no errors on 21 attempts to hit an unbelievable .619. Miranda Bacon had 10 kills with one error on 14 attempts to hit a gaudy .643. Kendra Zuckerman added seven kills and eight digs to the cause, while Kayla Wieserman totaled five kills and six blocks.

Wieserman and freshman Masaya Archbold took the reins at middle blocker tonight for injured starters Elizabeth Clemit and Makenna Busse. Archbold was making her collegiate debut and got her first collegiate kill and hit .333 along with two block assists. Heidi White also had an impact at the OPP2 position, putting away four kills and hitting .375 with four digs and three blocks.

Annika Wallace led the team with 21 assists and four service aces, Melissa Blockey added 12 dimes and Hattie Patton chipped in six out of system assists to go along with her team leading nine digs.

Up next for Park Gilbert is a match with Westcliff. The Bucs defeated the Warriors 3-2 earlier this year in a come from behind win.  This is also senior night where the Bucs will recognize their seniors and highlight their contributions to Buccaneer volleyball. Match time at the Arizona Region Volleyball Facility is 6 p.m.
