The Park University Gilbert volleyball team took care of business on Friday night, beating Westcliff University 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-19) at the Arizona Region Volleyball Facility in Chandler, Ariz.

With the win the Buccaneers move to 15-6 overall and 14-3 in the Cal Pac.  Embry Riddle clinched the Arizona Division title with its win over Marymount California tonight.  Even if the Bucs win tomorrow and ERAU loses, the Eagles would win the tiebreaker by virtue of their 2-1 record against the Buccaneers this year.

Park Gilbert controlled play for most of the match and it started right away in set one as the Bucs jumped on top early and never let the Warriors get back into the set winning the opening frame 25-13.

The second set saw WU play a cleaner set and the two teams went back and forth exchanging the lead multiple times.  At 23-23 it felt as though if Westcliff won the set the match could last for a while, but if the Bucs could pull it out, it might be a quick finish.  Park managed to win the last two points to take a commanding 2-0 lead with a 25-23 second set triumph.

However, it was not a quick finish for the Bucs as they had to make a major comeback in the third set to close out the match.  Westcliff went on a run to take a 17-10 lead and it looked as though we may be going to a fourth set.  But Park not only came back to tie the match at 19-19, they completed a 15-2 run to take the third and final set 25-19.

The Buccaneers finish the regular season tomorrow afternoon against Saint Katherine at the Inspire Courts (1090 N. Fiesta Blvd.) in Gilbert.  Match time is 1 p.m.  The Cal Pac Tournament is next week and the Buccaneers are expected to take one of the two wild card berths into the tournament t Embry Riddle.  Even though Park will finish second in the Arizona Division, they own the second best record in the conference which should earn them a berth.
