Former Peru State College and Peoria (Ariz.) High School standout setter Meg Grose begins her first season as an assistant coach for Park University Gilbert women’s volleyball.
Grose brings a solid volleyball IQ, coaching experience and strong leadership skills to Park University Gilbert. Grose spent the last two years as a graduate assistant at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark., where she handled day-to-day volleyball operations of the program along with other duties which included working with the Mulerider setters.
She played her collegiate career at NAIA-Division I Peru State College (Neb.). A four-year starting setter for the Bobcats from 2014-2017 and a two-time team captain as a junior and senior, Grose recorded 1,405 assists at 3.94 assists per set and 112 service aces to finish with career marks among the program’s top 10 in both statistical categories. Additionally, Grose notched 535 career digs. Over her four years at PSC, Grose helped lead the program to a combined 94 wins, the winningest four-season stretch since the turn of the millennium, which included three seasons with 24 or more victories and an impressive 32-9 mark in 2016.
A standout prep player at Peoria (Ariz.) High School, Grose was a four-year starting setter for the Panthers where she garnered All-District, All-Region and All-State honors. She had 991 career assists, 458 kills and 204 aces over her prep career.
Since 2013, Grose has been involved with multiple club teams which included coaching 14-, 15-, and 16-year-olds at the White Tank Mountain Volleyball Club and the American Sports Center in Avondale-Goodyear, Ariz.. During those stints, Grose was responsible for on-court coaching, practice planning, and player and skill development. Additionally, Grose assisted the 15u National Team for Club Legacy in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition, Grose worked for Code Blue Volleyball on the campus of PSC where she organized and conducted team practices and games as well as developed and coordinated competitive programs, while also focusing on player and skill development.
Grose graduated from Peru State College in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. During her time at PSC, Grose was a four-time honoree on the Dean’s List and a two-time Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete. As a senior, Grose was named an NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete. Her high academic achievement was an integral part of the Bobcat volleyball program earning American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Honors in all four of her seasons, while the team also ranked in the Top 10 academically among NAIA programs in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Furthermore, Grose was a four-year member of the Bobcats’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served as the organization’s vice president from 2016-2018.
