Clay Webb

  • Title
    Head Coach

Clay Webb is starting his second season as its men's and women's volleyball coach after an inaugural season at Park University Gilbert which could only be described as an unqualified success.

In year one, Webb led his women's volleyball team to a 15-13 record, and his men's team to an 8-9 record and a second-place finish in the Cal Pac with a mark of 5-2. Both the men's and women's teams did not shy away from tough competition as the women faced four teams and the men faced five teams who were ranked or receiving votes.

Webb came to Park University Gilbert after a pair of extremely successful high school boys' seasons at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

Webb, who was the 2018 Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year, led the Thunder to a 22-1 season, winning the 2018 AIA Class 6A State Championship. He was also the Arizona Boys Volleyball Central Region Coach of the Year in 2018.

Prior to Desert Vista, Webb spent two seasons as head boys' volleyball coach at Mountain Pointe High School, in Phoenix, and was an assistant coach for three seasons, also serving as head junior varsity coach, at Tempe's Corona Del Sol High School.

In addition to his high school coaching experience, Webb has served as head coach in the Aspire Volleyball Club (Tempe, Ariz.) since 2009. His 2017 Boys 18's team earned a second-place finish in The Arizona region tournament, and in 2016, his team won the region title, advancing to the boys winter championships in Chicago, where the team finished fifth and earned a bid to the Junior National Open Championship.

Webb also provides entertainment for fans of Park University Gilbert as one of the hosts of highly entertaining "The Ben and Clay Show" which is shown live on Facebook on a regular basis. He hosts the show with Buccaneers soccer coach Ben Sanchez.

Webb resides in Gilbert, with his wife Katie. The couple has two children, son Camden (6) and daughter Harper born in August of 2020.
