RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Park-Gilbert men's soccer picked up its second straight GSAC victory Thursday night, defeating La Sierra 4-2 at LSU Soccer Field to improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
La Sierra opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Vinicius Goncalves found the back of the net, but Park-Gilbert quickly answered. Brody Donovan equalized in the 23rd minute, giving the Buccaneers their first goal of the night.
Just two minutes later, Caden Dosmann put Park-Gilbert in front, finishing off an assist from Daniel Becker to make it 2-1. The Buccaneers continued to pressure the La Sierra defense and added another goal in the 38th minute when Donovan scored his second of the night, this time with Olli Saksinen providing the assist. Park-Gilbert carried a 3-1 advantage into halftime.
Dosmann added his second goal of the night in the 85th minute, giving the Buccaneers a three-goal cushion at 4-1. La Sierra answered shortly afterward through Adrian Navarro, but Park-Gilbert closed out the match for its second consecutive GSAC victory. Both Donovan and Dosmann finished with two goals, while Saksinen and Becker added an assist, and Nicklas Lagesen made four saves in goal.
The Buccaneers controlled much of the attacking play, finishing with 21 shots and 12 shots on goal, compared to 13 shots and six on target for La Sierra. Park-Gilbert also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. The victory extends Park-Gilbert's winning streak to three matches and gives the Buccaneers a 2-1 start in GSAC play.
The Buccaneers close out their road swing Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. against Soka University of America at Soka Soccer Field in Aliso Viejo, Calif.
