MESA, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (10-18, 4-12) wrapped up the 2025-2026 regular season with a 80-113 loss to The Master's University Mustangs (18-9, 11-4), Saturday afternoon at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
The Buccaneers fell to a Mustangs team that received votes in the latest NAIA poll. The Master's also secured the three seed in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference standings.
Park-Gilbert celebrated its seniors and their contributions to Buccaneer basketball: Caleb Ivy, Toate Sika, Latrell Jones, Devin Irving, and DaMarian Cunningham.
Ivy, the Chicago native, transferred to Park-Gilbert for the 2023-24 season. He recovered from an achilles injury that sidelined him for the entirety of 2024-25 and the first month of this season. This year, Ivy jumped to No. 4 in all-time scoring for the program.
Sika transferred from Pima CC and made his Buccaneer debut last season, proving to be one of the top two-way players in the program with six double-doubles this season. Last January, Sika won GSAC Defensive Player of the Week when he logged three blocks, three steals, and eight rebounds against OUAZ. He took a larger role in the offense this year, along with scoring a career-high 36 points against The Master's on Jan. 22. This led to Toate jumping to No. 5 in all-time scoring for the Bucs.
Jones was another transfer guard who joined the Buccaneers in Fall 2024 who provided reliable sparks. His 2025-26 senior campaign was unfortunately cut short halfway through the year due to an injury. On Dec. 16, 2024, Jones dropped 24 points in 36 minutes played against Providence Montana, shooting an efficient 82% from the field.
Irving and Cunningham joined the Buccaneer basketball program in 2022-23 and 2023-24 respectively. Serving as veteran leaders on the varsity reserve squad, Devin and DaMarian got standing ovations from their teammates when they checked into Saturday afternoon's game against The Master's.
Ivy led the Bucs in scoring Saturday afternoon with a season-high 22 points, shooting 60% from the field. Guards Tanner Pate and Mahlik Lindsey both scored 14 points in this contest. Overall, Park-Gilbert shot 44% from the field and 32% from downtown.
The Buccaneers return to the floor next season with a bright future ahead as three starters are slated to return next season.
