Pate Tabbed GSAC Offensive Player of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --- The Great Southwest Athletic Conference announced its winners for men's basketball conference players of the week presented by Athletic Solutions on Monday afternoon, tabbing Park University Gilbert's own Tanner Pate as the GSAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Pate, the redshirt junior from Ahwatukee, Ariz., led the Buccaneers to a 2-0 week on the road, earning a pair of wins against La Sierra and Life Pacific. He averaged 27.0 PPG, 5.0 APG, and posted 45% field goal percentage, playing all but one minute in both games combined.

This is the second time this year that a Buccaneer took home GSAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as fellow guard Mahlik Lindsey won the award back in November.

In the thrilling 98-95 overtime win against La Sierra on Tuesday night, Pate recorded 23 points, five rebounds, five steals, and a season-high eight assists in 40 minutes played. As the final moments of overtime approached, Pate began to put matters into his own hands. He assisted guard Mahlik Lindsey on a layup that tied things up at 95. Pate then stole a pass on LSU's final possession with four seconds left and pulled up from three-point land to beat the buzzer.

Against Life Pacific, Tanner scored a career-high 31 points in Park-Gilbert's 80-72 win over the Warriors. He knocked down a season-high seven three-pointers on Thursday, two shy of the Park-Gilbert single-game record. This was Pate's second time logging 30+ points since transferring to Park last year, as he scored 30 points against Embry-Riddle last January.

Overall, Pate has averaged 13.7 PPG, 2.8 APG, 3.4 RPG, and a 40% field goal percentage on the year.

In just two seasons with Park-Gilbert, Tanner has already climbed to the No. 2 spot in Buccaneer all-time scoring with 637 points.

The Bucs close out the 2025-2026 regular season this week with two home matchups against tough GSAC competition. They host the Hope International University Royals this Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. MST, who come in ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 25 ranking. Park's final game of the year will take place this Saturday at 2 p.m. MST, when they host The Master's University Mustangs. These games will be played at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
