WBB Drops Contest to OUAZ

The Park University Gilbert women's basketball team fell to OUAZ this afternoon 81-76 at the BENU PEC in Mesa, Ariz. The Buccaneers fall to 9-11 overall and 4-7 in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference.

The Buccaneers had a strong first half, shooting 47 percent from the floor and held a 35-31 lead at the half. The second half saw the Bucs shooting percentage drop to 29 percent and they were outscored 50-32 as OUAZ shot 59 percent in the second half.

There was also a big discrepancy at the free throw line as OUAZ made 22 trips to the charity stripe to only 10 for Park. But the Bucs struggled to make their free throws only making three, while OUAZ made 16.

Hemani Kalia led the Bucs with 15 points knocking down five three-pointers tying her career high. Julissa Julmist posted back-to-back double-digit scoring games posting 12 points. Symirah Gray also chipped in 12 points.

Alynna Palacios had eight rebounds and four assists to lead the team.

Up next, the Bucs take on Arizona Christian on Thursday, February 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
