MESA, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (8-14, 2-8) lost to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles (13-8, 6-3) by a score of 88-77, Thursday night at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
After breaking the Park-Gilbert single-game scoring record last Saturday against No. 9 Hope International, the Buccaneers experienced struggles on the offensive end. Park shot 42% from the field and 29% from three-point land. The Bucs now fall to 3-9 all-time against the Eagles.
Embry-Riddle shot an efficient 68% from the field in the first half, taking a 49-30 into the halftime break. Park-Gilbert was held to 34% from the field and 33% from downtown. Guard Mahlik Lindsey led the Bucs in first half scoring with 11 points, shooting 5-7 from the field.
The Eagles kept that momentum rolling early in the second half, despite Park-Gilbert outscoring ERAU by eight points in the second half. The Bucs began to claw back, bringing the lead to just seven with a minute remaining. After scoring 0 points in the first half, guard Toate Sika led the Bucs in second half scoring with 20 points.
 Three Buccaneers scored at least 16 points in this contest. Sika finished with the team high in scoring Thursday night as he shot 50% from the field with six rebounds. Lindsey scored 19 points shooting 8-15 from the field, while also recording three rebounds and six assists. Guard Tanner Pate scored 16 points, dishing out five assists and knocking down a pair of threes.
The Buccaneers return to the court this Saturday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. MST, when they host the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit (10-10, 3-7) at the BENU PEC in Mesa, Ariz.
