Bucs Fall to No. 4 Arizona Christian

GLENDALE, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (6-11, 0-5) lost 87-72 to the Arizona Christian University Firestorm (13-4, 4-1), Saturday afternoon at the ACU Events Center in Glendale, Ariz.

The Buccaneers, seeking their first win in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play, fell to the No. 4 program in the NAIA. Arizona Christian remains in fourth place in the GSAC standings as the Firestorm move to 10-0 all-time against Park-Gilbert.

ACU jumped out to a 13-point lead at halftime as neither team could amass 40% shooting in the first 20 minutes. Three-point shooting came at a premium as Park shot 4-15 to ACU's 5-16.

Park-Gilbert kept the game close in the second half as they were only outscored by two points. The Firestorm obtained their largest lead of the game at 22 late in the second half, but the Bucs kept chipping away at their deficit.

For the second straight game, Buccaneers guard Caleb Ivy led the team in scoring. Ivy had 17 points in this contest, knocking down four three-pointers and pulling down three rebounds.

Two other Bucs reached double digit scoring figures as Toate Sika and Mahlik Lindsey scored 14 and 13 points respectively. Both of those guards were a presence on the glass, racking up a combined 13 rebounds. The Park-Gilbert bench combined for 26 points, led by a nine-point effort from forward Tyson Banks.

Overall, Park-Gilbert shot 36% from the field and 35% from downtown. ACU tallied a 46% FG percentage and a 32% three-point percentage.

The Buccaneers return to the court this Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m. MST, when they play their first home game in the 2026 calendar year against the La Sierra University Golden Eagles (7-9, 0-5) at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
