LA VERNE, Calif. --- The Park University Gilbert men's soccer team (1-3-0) fell to the University of La Verne Leopards (1-0-2), Thursday night at Ortmayer Stadium in La Verne, Calif.
The Buccaneers dropped their third and final game of their California road trip, losing by a score of 2-0 in the first ever meeting between these two programs.
The first score of the match came in the seventh minute as Leopards midfielder Alexander Bastidas scored off an assist from Israel Jimenez Ramirez. Defender Hernan Sevilla netted the final goal in this contest in the 86th minute off a pass from Diego Soto.
Both teams got plenty of shots on the board as Park-Gilbert outshot La Verne 15-11. Five Buccaneers recorded multiple shots in this contest, and 11 of Park-Gilbert's 15 shots were on goal. Buccaneers goalkeeper Nicklas Lagesen racked up five saves in the first half and one in the second half.
The Park-Gilbert men's soccer team returns home to compete against the Oregon Tech Owls (1-0-2), this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. MST at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz. This will be the Bucs' final non-conference contest before opening up conference play with the OUAZ Spirit next Saturday night.
