SURPRISE, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert women's soccer team (5-3-1, 3-0-1) defeated the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit (2-6-0, 1-3-0) by a score of 2-0, Thursday evening at Spirit Field in Surprise, Ariz.
The Buccaneers secured the season sweep over OUAZ, shutting out the Spirit in both contests. Park-Gilbert remains undefeated in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play.
The first half of play saw the Bucs jump out to their 2-0 lead. In the 13th minute, forward Kalei Ganotisi netted her fifth goal of the season; courtesy of a pass from sophomore forward Mikenzie Kulish. Kulish then scored her first goal of the year in the 18th minute, with junior forward Yadira Bernal assisting on the play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Journey Morimoto picked up her third shutout win of the season, saving both of the Spirit's shots on goal.
OUAZ outshot Park-Gilbert 10-7, but the Bucs had three more shots on goal.
The Buccaneers return to action this Saturday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. MST, when they host the No. 12 ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
