LA GRANDE, Ore. --- The Park University Gilbert women's soccer team (2-2-0) fell to the Northwest University Eagles (3-2-0) by a score of 1-0, Monday afternoon at Community Stadium in La Grande, Ore.
The Buccaneers drop their first neutral-site contest of the season, as both teams were hosted by the University of Eastern Oregon this week.
After averaging 4.00 goals a game through the first three games, Park-Gilbert suffered its first shutout of the season in this low-scoring affair. The lone goal of this contest was scored by Eagles forward Megan Hurley in the 15th minute of play.
In net for the Bucs were sophomore Journey Morimoto in the first half and senior Morgan Trail in the second half, who both picked up two and three saves respectively.
Park-Gilbert was outshot 17-7 by Northwest, and the Bucs were held to zero shot attempts in the game. This contest turned physical as both teams combined for 20 fouls and one yellow card.
The Buccaneers look to bounce back in their upcoming match with the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (2-0-0), this Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. MST at Community Stadium in La Grande, Ore. This will be Park-Gilbert's final non-conference game of the season before opening GSAC play versus OUAZ on Sept. 13.
