Bucs Fall to No. 1 College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (1-2) lost 100-73 to the College of Idaho Yotes (2-2), Saturday night in day two of the Taco Bell Shootout at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell, Idaho.

Despite a rough start to the game, the Buccaneers played the No. 1 ranked program in the NAIA tough. Park-Gilbert outscored the defending NAIA national champion Yotes 43-38 in the second half.

Two Buccaneers scored 15+ points in this contest: guards Toate Sika and Tanner Pate. Sika scored a season-high 20 points, shooting 50% from the field while recording five rebounds and three assists. Pate scored 17 points, knocking down four of seven three-pointers.

Freshman guard Stephan Ironshell logged the most minutes out of any Park-Gilbert player with 29 despite coming off the bench. Ironshell made the most of his time on the floor, scoring 13 points with three triples made. Sophomore forward David Onyeogaziri provided an efficient 11 minutes, scoring eight points on four-of-six shots from the field.

The Bucs shot 40% from the field and 34.8% from downtown. The Park-Gilbert bench combined for 32 points.

Park-Gilbert returns to the court this Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. MST, when the Bucs return home to face the Bushnell University Beacons (1-1) at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
