Bucs Fall to Northwest in Taco Bell Shootout

CALDWELL, Idaho. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (1-1) lost 80-68 to the Northwest University Eagles (1-0) Friday afternoon in the Taco Bell Shootout, hosted by the College of Idaho at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell, Idaho.

The Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the 2025 season after being held to just 24 points in the second half.

Graduate guard Mahlik Lindsey led the Bucs in scoring tonight with an impressive 31 points. Lindsey sunk 15 of 16 free throws while also recording five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Senior guard Toate Sika was three rebounds shy of recording consecutive double-doubles, as he scored 11 points and seven rebounds in this contest. Sika had 16 points and 11 rebounds in Park-Gilbert's season opener against West Coast Baptist last Wednesday.

The Buccaneers shot 41.1% from the field and 31.8% from downtown. They pulled down 32 rebounds to the Eagles' 40.  The Park-Gilbert bench combined for 11 points.

The Bucs return to the court tomorrow, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. MST, when they play their second game in the Taco Bell Shootout in Caldwell. Park-Gilbert takes on the defending NAIA national champion College of Idaho Yotes (1-1). The Yotes, who rank No. 1 on the latest NAIA Top-25, are coming off a 96-79 loss at Montana Western on Monday evening.
