For the second Thursday in a row, the Park University Gilbert women's basketball team struggled from the floor which resulted in a conference loss. This time it was to Hope International 69-56 at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
After starting the conference season 4-1, the Bucs have now lost three in a row to fall to 4-4 in conference play.
The Bucs shot 26 percent from the floor and 19 percent from three-point range only making six three pointers for the game on 31 attempts. For the second week in a row, the Bucs only made seven shots from the floor in the second half. HIU only made 10 shots from the floor themselves but made 16 or 21 shots from the free throw line including making 12 in a row to start the game.
Park Gilbert got 12 points each from Savannah Huerta, Kayla Schroeder and Aubrey Saleapaga. Alynna Palacios pulled down 13 rebounds and had six steals.
The Bucs don't have a lot of time to lick their wounds as they face Life Pacific on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
