The Park University Gilbert volleyball team dropped its first game of the year to OUAZ 3-0 (14-25, 14-25, 20-25) at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AGriz. The Bucs drop to 3-1 on the year and 0-1 in GSAC conference play.

The Buccaneers struggled to get their offense going as the Spirit were outstanding on the defensive end with 58 digs which led to the Bucs only having 24 kills on 106 attempts hitting .075. Meanwhile the Spirit doubled the Bucs in kills with 48 and hit .272 on the evening.

Mallory Turner led the way with seven kills and only two errors on 20 attempts with three blocks. Kyla Knight added five kills. Daniella Miranda-Johnson led the team with 16 assists and Leilani Pollard led the squad with 12 digs.

The Bucs now hit the road for a California trip as they take on Providence Christian on Thursday, Sept. 26 in a non-conference contest, before returning to GSAC play with two matches against Life Pacific on Friday, Sept. 27 and Hope International on Saturday, Sept. 28.
