MESA, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team (3-9, 0-0) lost at home to the Dakota Wesleyan University Tigers (10-3, 4-2) by a score of 81-64, Sunday afternoon at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
Despite outscoring the Tigers from three-point land, the Buccaneers trailed for most of this physical bout. Park-Gilbert recorded 29 rebounds to Dakota Wesleyan's 43, and the Bucs were outscored in the paint 18-34.
Guards Tanner Pate, Marquis McKinzy, and Latrell Jones all found themselves at atop the Park-Gilbert scoring leaderboard, each with 10 points and two three-pointers made. Pate also recorded five rebounds and four assists off 34 minutes played today.
The Buccaneers shot a total of 42.9% from both the field and from beyond the arc. Dakota Wesleyan shot 46% from the field, and 25% from downtown.
The Park-Gilbert men's basketball team returns to the hardwood after the holidays, when they open up conference play against OUAZ on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m. MST, at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
