The Park University Gilbert volleyball team dropped its fourth straight contest in conference play, falling to The Master's University 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 21-25) who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA top-25 poll. The Bucs drop to 4-4 on the season and 0-4 in conference play while the Mustangs move to 11-4 overall and 5-0 in the GSAC.
The Bucs continue to show improvement in each match playing one of the better teams in the country tough in all three sets. Ultimately, the Mustangs had too much firepower as they had 37Â more attacks (120-83), 17Â more kills (46-29) and six more aces (9-3) on the afternoon.
The Bucs played well defensively with 38 digs and 10 total blocks while the Mustangs had 35 digs and six blocks.
Offensively, sophomore Keep Williams, playing in only her second match of the season, led the team with seven kills. Junior Mallory Turner and redshirt sophomore Leila Lee each had six kills and they hit .308 and .385, respectively. Kylie Druxman (12) and Makenna Roberts (10) led in assists, while Isari Vigil had eight digs to lead the Buccos. Kyla Knight and Curry each had a career high six blocks.
The Bucs don't have long to lick their wounds as they now travel up I-17 to take on Embry Riddle tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. in Prescott, Ariz. The Eagles are 8-8 on the season and 2-2 in GSAC play. They hold a 7-4 advantage in the all-time series with the Bucs.
