The Park University Gilbert women's volleyball team dropped a conference contest to OUAZ 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 18-25) at Faith Arena in Surprise, Ariz., this evening. The Buccaneers drop to 4- overall and 0-8 in the Great Southwest Conference.
The first set saw the Spirit out hit the Bucs 14-8 in kills and they hit .178 to .027 for the Bucs. Mallory Turner had three kills, while Porche Bauer and Kyla Knight each had two.
The second set saw the Bucs keep the score close (23-25) despite being outhit 20-10 in kills. Turner again led the Bucs with five kills in the set.
The final set saw Park Gilbert get off to a good start with a 3-0 run to begin the frame but OUAZ methodically worked its way back into the set and ultimately cruise home with a seven-point third set win.
Turner led the charge for the Buccaneers with nine kills. Three Bucs reached double digits in digs as Taylor Van Winkle, Leilani Pollard and Makenna Roberts all had 10 digs each.
Turner, Bauer and Chariyah Curry each had three blocks a piece.
Park Gilbert now has a week off before a pair of home contests. The Bucs will take on Hope International next Friday, October 25 and Life Pacific next Saturday, October 26 at Arizona Athletic Grounds. Both matches will commence at 6 p.m. with the Saturday contest being played in Fieldhouse C on the Athletes Unlimited court.
