Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WBB STRUGGLES CONTINUE IN LOSS TO PROVIDENCE (MONT.)

The Park University Gilbert women's basketball team continues to struggle after another lackluster performance in a 68-46 loss to the University of Providence (Mont.) in a non-conference game at Bell Bank Park in Mesa, Ariz. With the loss, the Bucs fourth in a row, they fall to 2-4 overall on the season.

The Buccaneers only made 13 FG all game, with three of them coming from three-point range. They shot 27 percent for the game from the floor and from beyond the arc. While they struggled to shoot the pill, they did a decent job holding a potent Argos team down.  Providence only shot 38 percent from the field but did manage to hit seven three-pointers and only missed one shot at the free throw line in 16 attempts.

The Bucs were also dominated on the boards being outrebounded by 19 rebounds (48-29). This included 21 rebounds on the offensive glass which turned into 20 second chance points. Park on the other hand only converted one of their 13 offensive boards into points.

On the bright side, Park Gilbert only had 17 turnovers which was 11 fewer than they had in the matchup with Antelope Valley yesterday.  The Bucs also improved at the charity stripe, improving to 71 percent (17-24) after missing 25 free throws yesterday.

Offensively, Macy Markus led the team with 15 points, Kayla Schroeder had 11, while Jazmyne Jenkins led the team with five rebounds. Schroeder was the most efficient player on the floor with a 14 Efficiency Rating. This measures points, rebounds, assists on the positive side and missed shots, fouls and turnovers on the negative side among others.

This is only the second four-game losing streak in program history. The Bucs lost four in a row in their first season from November 23 through Dec.16. They will look to get off the schneid on Sunday with their next conference game against La Sierra at 12 p.m. at Bell Bank Park.
