The Park University Gilbert men's basketball team cruised to their third victory of the season with a 74-60 win over SAGU-AIC at The PHHacility in Phoenix, Ariz. The Bucs are now 2-0 at home and 4-0 all-time against the Warriors.
Behind 12 first half points each from guard Jacob Bingham and forward Craig Mueller, the Buccaneers took a 13 point lead into the half. The Buccaneers never looked back and, with a Bingham three-pointer, grew the lead to as many as 17 points midway through the second half.
Going into Thursday night's game, Bingham had been on a cold streak in which she shot 2-19 over the past three games. Against the Warriors, he found his stroke and shot 6-13 from beyond the arc for 18 points. Mueller also had a career night; he notched his first double-double as a Buccaneer (14 points, 11 rebounds) and shot 7-11 from the field.
On a night where the Bucs were led by solid shooting performances from Bingham and Mueller, the Warriors could not hit the broad side of a barn. They shot just 10% (2-20) from three-point range 42.9% (6-14) from the free throw line.
Erik Palmer, who stretched to the center position in Tyson Beringer Jr.'s absence, recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds; eight of his rebounds were offensive. Both of Palmer's double-doubles this season came against the Warriors.
With the win, the Buccaneers are now 3-8 on the season and have two weeks off until their next game when they are scheduled to play Rocky Mountain College in the Cactus Classic. That game will take place at 4 p.m. at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
