PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Autumn Wood and Asha Harris had seven kills each and Wood added a team-best eight digs, but the Buccaneers weren't able to match Embry-Riddle's .402 hitting mark and a pair of double-digit offensive efforts from the Eagles' Caylee Robalin and Erin Clark, falling to ERAU 25-12, 25-18, 25-15 Friday night in Prescott.
Park U Gilbert (6-8) is back in action Monday night, hosting a fourth-straight opponent from the California Pacific Conference, when the University of Saint Katherine visits The Nest at San Tan Charter at 7 p.m. The match will air live on the Buccaneer Digital Network.
Friday's first set went to the Eagles after an 8-0 run to begin the set, and after the 8-0 lead, the Buccaneers didn't get closer than six points, as ERAU led by as many as 13 on the way to a 25-12 win. An Eagle error gave Park its first lead of the match in the second, scoring the first point, and a block by Kayla Wieserman and Kendra Zuckerman had the Bucs in front 4-3 early on.
Embry-Riddle made its move up 11-10, scoring the next five points to build a 16-10 lead, and Park couldn't get closer than four as an Elisa Pauzer kill secured the set for the Eagles 25-18.
The Buccaneers led again in the early parts of the third, up 6-3 on Zuckerman's kill off of a pass from Mackenzie Seitz. Embry-Riddle answered with a 6-1 run to take a 9-7 lead, and the Eagles didn't trail the rest of the way, winning the third 25-15.
