Director of Athletics Jeff Fore promoted men’s volleyball top assistant Vince Zanzucchi to head coach of the program on July 15, 2022. Zanzucchi brings experience from all levels of volleyball to the program as a player and as a coach.
Zanzucchi joined the program in the 2021-22 season as top assistant and was charged with running practices in the fall when Webb was coaching the women’s team and was instrumental in formulating practice plans and in-game strategy. Zanzucchi was instrumental in the development of freshman Ben Turcinec who turned into one of the Bucs top hitters in 2022.
Prior to joining the staff with the Buccaneers, Zanzucchi ran the 14U team with the Molten Juniors Volleyball Club from 2018-21.
From 2014-16, he was the head coach of the Arizona State men’s volleyball club program. The Sun Devils reached the NCVF National Championship match in 2015.
From 2012-14 Zanzucchi got his start in coaching as an assistant coach for the men’s volleyball team at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz., his alma mater. During his time coaching the Huskies, Hamilton won 102 matches in three seasons. The Huskies reached the 6A state semifinals twice and lost to the eventual champion on two occasions.
Zanzucchi graduated in 2008 from Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, Calif., where he played volleyball under the tutelage of John Mayer. The Corsairs won two conference championships and placed third in the CCCAA National Tournament. He was tabbed for the All-Coastal Conference second team as an outside hitter.
After leaving Santa Monica, Zanzucchi traveled internationally to play volleyball for four years in Germany for FC Schuttorf 09. The team won the Regionliga Championship in 2008 and 2009. Since returning to the states, he played four years in the Arizona Premier Volleyball League and currently plays for the Phoenix Ascension in the Volleyball League of America. He has been named an all-star and the Ascension finished second in the 2019 PVL championship.
Zanzucchi graduated from Hamilton High School in 2001 where he played football, basketball and volleyball. He earned the Husky Team Leader Award in basketball and was named team MVP of the volleyball team his junior and senior seasons. In 2001 he was named honorable mention all-Fiesta Region.
Zanzucchi lives in Chandler, Ariz., with his wife Erica and three children Vincent, Gwenevere and Farrah.
