Preston English was hired on January 6, 2020 as the first ever Athletic Communications Director at Park University Gilbert.
English brings a wide range of experience to the position. He started at Arizona State University where he was the media contact for baseball for four years. The team made two trips to the college world series during his time there. He also handled publicity for men’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and softball. Men’s golf won a national title and both tennis and swimming made NCAA appearances during his tenure. English was the media contact for the PING/Karsten Golf Tournament as well as an NCAA Baseball Regional.
For two years English worked at the University of Colorado. English was the media contact for women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and men’s and women’s tennis. He was the media contact for the NCAA women’s volleyball first round sub regional held at the Coors Events Conference Center.
A graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism, English worked at the student radio station while working in the media relations office. He did play-by-play for football, basketball and baseball for the station and announced in-game updates at ASU football games for different national radio stations. English also handled public address duties for ASU volleyball and softball.
A Pittsburgh, Pa., native, English has worked in many different capacities at events and tournaments for different conferences, leagues, teams and media outlets. Some of the entities he has worked for include the NFL (Super Bowl), Fiesta Bowl, Pac-12, Big 12, Denver Broncos, CBS, NBC, ABC and ESPN.
Most recently, English handled publicity as the media relations director at San Tan Charter School in Gilbert. English handled stats, press releases, video and photography for all varsity sports including the baseball team where he was the head coach.
English lives in Mesa, Ariz., and has four children, Jade, Mario, Samuel and Olivia.
