Gordon Stubblefield is entering his third season as the head men’s basketball coach at Park University Gilbert. Stubblefield was named head men's basketball coach at Park University Gilbert in July 2018, after 13 seasons as lead assistant coach for Park University head men's basketball coach Jason Kline in Parkville, Mo.
In his first season at the helm of the Buccaneers, Park Gilbert posted 8-19 record, but Stubblefield showed he would not shy away from playing top shelf competition in year one. The Buccaneers played six games against teams ranked in the top 25 and 3 teams who qualified for the NAIA Div. I and II national tournaments. In year two, the Buccaneers saw more top-ranked competition, including six games against top-12 opponents.
In Parkville, Stubblefield's main responsibilities were in the areas of recruitment and both perimeter and post player development. In 2017-18, he added additional duties as head coach of Park University's developmental men's basketball team, leading the Pirates to six wins in the team's inaugural season, including a 4-4 mark against junior varsity and reserve teams from other four-year, NAIA institutions. During his 13 seasons on Kline's staff, Stubblefield helped coach eight different NAIA All-Americans, including Xavielle Brown who was a three-time All-American and two-time conference player of the year.
Park University posted a 219-139 record during his time as lead assistant and made five appearances in the NAIA Division I National Championship (2007, 2010, 2011, 2016 and 2017). The Pirates also posted six 20-win seasons during his tenure in Parkville.
Stubblefield played his collegiate basketball at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind., where he helped lead the Warriors to a national tournament berth in 1998 under Kline. He was tabbed first team all-conference and an honorable mention all-American in 1999. He averaged 13 points per game over his career.
Stubblefield graduated from Indiana Tech in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration.
Stubblefield prepped at Dodge City Senior High School in Dodge City, Kan., He was a three-year varsity letter winner where he averaged 17 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists per game for the Red Demons. He helped to lead Dodge City to a 1988 Kansas state tournament berth.
Stubblefield lives in Mesa, Ariz., with his wife Cassandra.
