Ben York was named Head Coach of Park University Gilbert Women’s Basketball in July of 2023. York enters his fourth year on the Park University staff bringing an extensive basketball background to the Bucs that spans over two decades from all levels of basketball - high school, college and professional. He served multiple years at the high school level as well as over 10 years in a variety of roles in the NBA and WNBA, including basketball, development, analytics, video coordination, operations and digital.
As Head Coach the past two seasons (2023-24, 2024-25), York has helped the Bucs win 30 games and earned back-to-back berths in the Conference Tournament, falling in the Semi-Finals each year. In the 2024-25 season, York’s up-tempo “Full Sail” system led to the Bucs being ranked No. 2 in the NAIA in 3-point shooting as well as the No. 15 overall offense in the nation.

During his first two seasons on staff (2021-23), York was Player Development Coach, Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Park University Women’s Basketball. Prior to joining Park, York coached at Kaizen Basketball Club alongside current WNBA Champion Assistant Coach Olaf Lange. He spent several years at the high school level as a Player Development & Assistant Coach at Poston Butte High School helping the Broncos to a Region Championship in 2020-21.
York played basketball for Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colorado and later went on to receive a tryout for the International Basketball League in 2006.
During his time with the NBA and WNBA, Coach York was mentored by former NBA star and WNBA Champion Head Coach, Corey Gaines, and current WNBA Champion Head Coach, Sandy Brondello. He is an avid writer and has penned over 500 articles on women’s basketball appearing in publications like ESPN, SLAM Magazine, WNBA.com, NBA.com and Dime Magazine.
Coach York resides in Queen Creek with his wife, Aubrie. Both cancer survivors, they are active in raising awareness and volunteering at numerous cancer-based non-profit organizations.
