MESA, Ariz. — Park-Gilbert men's soccer came away with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Justice University on Tuesday night at Arizona Athletic Grounds, improving to 3-2 on the season.
The Buccaneers came out flying, scoring four times in the opening 17 minutes.
Florian Traebert opened the scoring in the third minute, followed by goals from
Caden Dosmann (9:21),
Adam Rydberg (13:51) and
Anton Aaltonen (16:49).
Brody Donovan recorded assists on two of Park-Gilbert's goals.
Nicklas Lagesen also made an impact from the goalkeeper position, recording an assist on one of Park-Gilbert's goals, while Aaltonen also recorded one assist.
Justice got on the board late in the first half, but Park-Gilbert carried a 4-1 advantage into the break. Justice continued to push in the second half, adding two late goals to cut the deficit to one, but the Buccaneers held firm to secure the 4-3 win in a memorable Senior Night victory. The Buccaneers finished the night with nine shots, including seven on goal, while Justice recorded 15 shots with nine on target. The physical matchup also featured 10 yellow cards between the two teams.
The victory marks Park-Gilbert's second consecutive win over Justice and extends the Buccaneers' perfect record against the Lions to 2-0. Park-Gilbert returns to action Thursday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m. against Arizona Christian University at ACU Soccer Field in Glendale, Arizona, opening GSAC play.
