Mesa, Ariz. - The Park-Gilbert women's soccer team delivered a historic performance on Saturday night, dominating Justice University 11–0 at Arizona Athletic Grounds. The victory improved the Buccaneers' record to 4–1–0 on the season and extended their winning streak to two games.
The result was more than just another win. The 11 goals marked the most goals scored in a single game in Park-Gilbert women's soccer program history, making an already special night a historic one for the Buccaneers.
Park-Gilbert wasted no time establishing control.
Yadira Bernal opened the scoring just 3:49 into the match, finishing from an assist by
Darienne Thompson.
Bekah Sipinga doubled the lead in the 17th minute after being set up by
Alexandria Bugal.
The Buccaneers then exploded for three goals in a span of just over two minutes late in the first half. An own goal made it 3–0 in the 30th minute before
Kalei Ganotisi added another just seconds later, with Mizzell providing the assist.
Katelynn Harris followed in the 32nd minute, and
Darienne Thompson scored less than a minute later to give Park-Gilbert a commanding 6–0 lead at halftime.
The offensive pressure continued after the break. Dameris Canto Parker found the back of the net in the 54th minute, assisted by
Marisah Nolan, before Ganotisi scored her second of the night in the 77th minute off an assist from Bugal.
The final minutes produced three more goals.
Ava Fike scored in the 79th minute, followed by Bernal's second goal in the 81st minute. Fike then completed her own brace in the 86th minute to cap the historic 11–0 victory.
Ganotisi and Fike each finished with two goals, while Bernal also recorded two goals and an assist. Bugal was particularly influential in the attack with three assists, while Thompson contributed a goal and two assists.
Park-Gilbert's dominance was reflected throughout the statistics. The Buccaneers recorded 44 total shots and 25 shots on goal, compared with just two shots and zero shots on goal from Justice. Park-Gilbert also held a 14–0 advantage in corner kicks, controlling virtually every aspect of the match.
The victory was the perfect way to celebrate Senior Night, giving the Buccaneers a memorable night at home while setting a new program record for goals in a single game.
The Buccaneers hit the road for their next matchup, taking on Stanton University on Monday, Aug. 31 at 6:00 p.m. The game will be played in Garden Grove, Calif. Park-Gilbert enters the matchup at 4–1–0 and riding a two-game winning streak.
