MESA, Ariz. — Park-Gilbert men's soccer battled through a physical and heated matchup Saturday night, falling 2-0 to Stanton University at the Arizona Athletic Grounds.
Stanton struck twice in the first half, scoring in the fifth and 24th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the break. The Buccaneers continued to compete in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Park-Gilbert recorded seven shots, with six on target, while goalkeeper
Nicklas Lagesen made six saves. The match featured plenty of intensity, with both teams combining for 32 fouls and several yellow cards.
The Buccaneers will look to bounce back on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m., when they travel to California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., to face the Kingsmen at William Rolland Stadium.
