The Park University Gilbert Golf team struggled on day two of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference Golf Championships at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif., today. The Buccaneers fell four spots in the standings to eight-place. Junior Riley Wortman shot a four-under 76 today to move up two spots in the individual standings.
While conditions were slightly more favorable today as the average score was 80.14 compared to 81.38 yesterday, the Bucs were only one of three teams to shoot a worse score than on day one. A 32-over 320 puts the Bucs behind the eight ball as they are now 33 strokes behind tournament leader OUAZ.
Individually, Wortman was the only Buccaneer to shoot in the 70's today with a four-over 76 to move into 15th place. His round was highlighted by two birdies and 10 pars. Overall, Wortman sits at +10 for the tournament nine shots back. For the second day in a row, no player broke par on the par 72, 6,799-yard course.
The Bucs will tee off for the final round tomorrow morning with all players teeing off between 8:00 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.
