MESA, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert beach volleyball team (3-8, 1-5) lost a pair of home games to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-2, 0-0), Sunday afternoon at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
The Buccaneers wrapped up a week that saw them take on two Division I opponents over the course of three games, as they fell to Stephen F. Austin State University on Thursday. Park-Gilbert lost 5-0 in both matches Sunday afternoon, but put up a valiant effort in each contest.
In the opening 9 a.m. match, the Bucs' pair of Elise Langley and Lizzy Moyer nearly stole the first set from Nebraska's No. 2 pair. The Cornhuskers won the first set 21-19, but Langley and Moyer kept it close throughout.
The second match of the day was highlighted by Park-Gilbert's No. 5 pair of Athena Hice and Marissa Moorehouse, who pushed Nebraska to a third set by winning the second 21-18.
