FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GILBERT,
Ariz. — Park University Gilbert today announced that its ACHA Hockey program will not return for the 2026–2027 academic year. The decision follows a comprehensive strategic and financial review and reflects the university's commitment to allocating resources in alignment with enrollment goals and institutional priorities.
"Our student-athletes and coaches have represented Park University with tremendous spirit on and off the ice," said
Ben Zibers, Associate Vice President for the Gilbert Campus. "This decision was not made lightly. We are committed to ensuring every affected athlete has the information, support, and resources needed to continue their academic and athletic journey."
As the season has now concluded, the university will work with student-athletes to explore transfer options, connect them with academic advising, and ensure all scholarship and financial aid commitments are honored per applicable agreements.
Park University Gilbert thanks Head Coach Chris Erickson, the players, and the families who have invested in this program. The university remains committed to its broader athletic mission and will continue to evaluate competitive and club-level opportunities that serve its student community.
