GAME 1 – Embry Riddle 8, Park Gilbert 1

The score belies how close this game was for 71/2 innings. Embry Riddle put one run on the board in the first and that was all of the scoring done by both teams in a pitcher's duel for the first 7 ½ innings.

Bucs starter Alex Buchanan was the hard luck loser after a strong pitching performance. He threw the first four innings allowed the one run on three hits. Xavier Merritt came on in relief and kept the Eagles at bay in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, allowing only one runner to reach base.

But the Eagles got to Merritt in the eighth, putting up seven runs on five hits, to break the game open.

The Bucs put up a run in the top of ninth inning on back-to-back doubles by Trey Markham and Ty Matz. But the Bucs bats were silent for most of the game, only mustering one hit in the previous eight innings.

Game 2 – Embry Riddle 4, Park Gilbert 1

The Buc bats could only muster a single run in another pitchers' duel as Bucs starter Trey Langan kept them in the game throwing a complete game and only allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

A Trey Markham double and a passed ball put him at third base in the third inning and he scored on an error by the ERAU third baseman.

These same two teams will complete the series tomorrow afternoon with another double header starting at 11 a.m. in Prescott, Ariz. Jimmy Wood and KJ Ward are the probable starters on the mound for the Buccaneers.
