Buccaneers Fall 3-0 to OUAZ

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Park University Gilbert women's soccer team fell 3-0 to OUAZ on Saturday afternoon at Reach 11 Soccer Complex, as the Buccaneers were unable to convert their scoring chances in the GSAC matchup.

OUAZ opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Grace Otero found the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Buccaneers went into halftime trailing by one despite creating opportunities late in the opening period.

OUAZ extended its advantage shortly after the break, with Desiree Dutra scoring in the 49th minute off an assist from Madison Mendiola. Dutra added her second goal of the afternoon in the 63rd minute, assisted by Meredith Galus, to put the match out of reach.

Park-Gilbert finished with six shots, including two on goal, while OUAZ recorded 11 shots and five on target. The Buccaneers earned four corner kicks to OUAZ's three. Bekah Sipinga and Tarni Nicol each put a shot on target, while goalkeeper Journey Morimoto made two saves.

The result moves Park-Gilbert to 8-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in GSAC play. The match was officially a home contest for the Buccaneers, despite being played in Phoenix.

The Buccaneers return to Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa on Thursday, Oct. 15, to host Hope International University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
