SURPRISE, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's soccer team (2-4-3, 1-0-2) fell to the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit (2-4-1, 1-2-1) by a score of 1-0, Thursday night at Spirit Field in Surprise, Ariz.
The Buccaneers suffered their first loss in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play, moving to 2-4-3 all-time against OUAZ.
After 20 minutes of scoreless soccer, Spirit forward Alvaro Hormigos netted the game's lone goal in the 21st minute.
OUAZ outshot Park-Gilbert 8-7 and had one more shot on goal (3-2), in a physical match that saw both teams combine for 27 fouls.
The Buccaneers return to the pitch this Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. MST, when they host the Embry-Riddle Eagles (2-2-2, 1-0-1) at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
