MESA, Ariz. --- The Park University Gilbert men's soccer team (2-3-2, 1-0-1) played to a 1-1 draw on the road against the Benedictine University Mesa Redhawks, Tuesday night at ASU Polytechnic in Mesa, Ariz.
The Buccaneers and Redhawks played neck-and-neck as both teams took 12 shots. This defensive struggle also turned into a physical match as both teams combined for 24 fouls and four yellow cards.
Junior defenseman Wiktor Blachowicz got Benedictine Mesa on the board first in the 40th minute. In the 72nd minute of play, BENU allowed an own goal which tied the match at one.
Nicklas Lagesen got his sixth start in goal, picking up one save in Tuesday night's draw.
The Buccaneers now move to 4-6-2 all-time against Benedictine Mesa.
Park-Gilbert returns to the pitch this Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. MST, when they host the Arizona Christian University Firestorm at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Ariz.
