Bucs Fall 1-0 to Soka

PHOENIX --- The Park University Gilbert women's soccer team (5-6-1, 3-3-1) lost 1-0 at home to the Soka University of America Lions (7-2-3, 4-1-1), Saturday evening at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Buccaneers drop to .500 in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play, and sixth place in the GSAC standings.

The first half of this defensive battle proved competitive, as both teams combined for seven shots (Park-Gilbert 5 Soka 2). After 75 minutes of scoreless soccer, Lions forward Kaylee Broome netted the lone goal of this contest, assisted by Ahani Aranda.

Bucs senior forward Lauren Runnion led the team in shots with two and one shot on goal. Four other Park-Gilbert players tallied one shot.

In net for the Buccaneers Saturday evening was senior goalkeeper Morgan Trail, who saved three of Soka's four shots on goal.

Both teams took six shots in the team. Park had majority of the first half shots (5-2), and Soka had most of the second half shots (4-1).

The Buccaneers return to the pitch this Thursday, Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. MST, when they hit the road for Glendale, Ariz., to face the Arizona Christian University Firestorm (2-7-2, 0-4-2) at the ACU Soccer Field.
