The Park University Gilbert men's soccer opening match was cancelled due to Lightning in the area around Legacy Sports Park In Mesa, Ariz.

The match was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Arizona time, but lightning forced the teams to forgo the usual warmups as teams were not allowed on the field until 8:15 and then warmed up for 30 minutes before starting at approximately 8:45. In the 33rd minute with the match still scoreless, lightning was once again within a seven-mile radius of the complex which meant there would be a least another half hour wait and with the likelihood the delay would be longer and both teams would have to warm up again, it didn't make sense to continue and the coaches and administrators on site decided to cancel the game. 

This match will not be made up.  The Buccaneers now hit the road to head to Southern California to take on Hope International on Saturday at 3 p.m. The University of Providence stays in Arizona for matches against OUAZ and Embry Riddle on Friday and Saturday.
