The Park University Gilbert baseball team completed a series sweep of Providence Christian College with 11-2 and 11-4 wins today at Skyline High School in Mesa, Ariz.
With the two wins, the Buccaneers move to 6-3 in the California Pacific Conference and 9-15 overall. The Sea Beggars struggles continue as they fall to 4-12 overall and 0-6 in conference.
Game 1 – Park Gilbert 11, Providence Christian 2
Behind six strong innings from ace pitcher Shaun Atamanchuk, the Buccaneers pitching staff held the Sea Beggars to only one hit and two runs in the first game of this Saturday double header. The Bucs got all of the runs they needed in the first when they plated four runs behind RBI singles from Jason Newton and Travis Moore. Brendan Blakeman added a two-run singles to complete the scoring.
The Bucs added one in the second and two more in the fourth before completing the scoring with another four runs in the seventh.
  On the mound Atamanchuk (1-1) and Connor Barton combined on the one hitter as Barton threw the last three innings to pick up the save. The only hit allowed came in the first inning off the bat of PCC third baseman Kyle Fuller.
Atamanchuk did walk six batters and the two Sea Beggars runs came after two walks in the fourth. A passed ball resulted in both runs being unearned.
At the plate six Bucs recorded at least two hits with leadoff hitter Chris Amador leading the way with three. Aaron Stinnett and Blakeman both knock in two runs. Amador, Newton, Moore and Logan Livingston all scored twice for the Buccos.

Game 2 – Park Gilbert 11, Providence Christian 4
For the second consecutive game the Bucs put 11 runs on the board in a seven run victory. While the Bucs held the Sea Beggars down with two pitchers in game one of the double header, Johnny Wholestaff got the call in game two as the Bucs used six pitchers to hold down the PCC bats.
Kyle Poapst got the call as the Buccaneer opener and went the first two innings allowing two hits and two runs (one earned) with two strikeouts.
Zachary Swanson (2-0) went the next three innings to pick up the win allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out three. Dylan Jaquez, Diego Jordan, Angel Heredia and Zachary Fogle each threw an inning to close the game out, allowing one run and four hits over the final four innings. Jordan's inning was particularly impressive as he struck out two batters and showcased his fastball which touched as high as 95 mph.
At the plate, Park Gilbert did its damage in innings 2, 3, and 4 scoring 10 of its 11 runs. Amador drove in two in the second with a double. Blakeman brought home three in the third with a three-run homer and the five runs in the fourth came home in a plethora of ways; a walk, two wild pitches, an error and the more conventional RBI double by Diego Bejarano.
Amador, Bejarano and Livingston each had multiple hits for the second consecutive game, Amador also had two RBI and Blakeman plated three.
The Buccaneers now travel to Lancaster, Calif. To take on Antelope Valley March 24 and 25. The Buccaneers sit in fourth place in the conference at 6-3 with the Pioneers right behind them at 5-4. Â Â
